How much would it change our perspective if we remembered that God is for us? How much more quickly would we run to Him instead of to others or to temporary escapes of pleasure when troubles come? I would like for us to consider a few verses from Psalm 33 to meditate upon when we encounter frustrating and discouraging issues in our lives.
REJOICE! Because God has chosen us to be His possession. This gives us some serious confidence. When we feel helpless or less than sufficient for the things ahead, let’s remember that we belong to the one Whose counsel stands forever (Psalm 33:11) and Whose “eye. . . is on those who fear Him-those who depend on His faithful love (Psalm 33:18).
When we come to times of worry and discouragement may we wait for Yahweh. Too many times we get impatient and frustrated that we cannot meet needs and solve problems in our own power but God desires for us to wait for Him to act so that our hearts learn more and more to rejoice in Him and to experientially know more of His faithful love resting upon us.
Let us remember that our greatest power is in the One to whom we belong.
